Picks of the Day for MLB: July 22

By Stefan Luciani

Okay, two-for-two for our first game back from the All Star break. How do you like them apples huh? We had our fun folks, but today is where the fun really starts.

The Toronto Blue Jays are back in action tonight for the first time since the break playing a division rival in the Boston Red Sox. Now following a tough start to the season for the Sox, they really came alive in the last few weeks leading up to the break to even pull ahead of the Jays and Rays in the AL East at times. Now just two games back from the Jays, they kick off a pivotal homestand series against the Jays at Fenway.

Kevin Gausman is on the bump for the Blue Jays tonight, and amid some tough outings for him every so often, he still looks like a Cy Young candidate and seems to do well against the Red Sox. in his last three starts he has allowed just two runs through 15 innings pitched.

Now the Blue jays themselves are amid a four-game road skid which they will be looking to end imminently. Still with some depleted help from the bullpen, I’m expecting this offense to deliver at Fenway tonight, a park where they have traditionally done well at.

Because of how eventually matched this contest is, the odds aren’t crazy swayed to one end over the other though, which is why I like the Jays at -1.5. I think they take this game tonight with an offensive performance like we know they are still capable of producing. With a ML of just -106, I say why not fall back into old habits right?

Pick: Blue Jays runline -1.5 @ +150 (Caesars)

Other Notable Picks:

Kevin Gausman O5.5 Strikeouts @ -146 (FanDuel): Okay so I know you're thinking they aren't great odds, why would I take these? Now yes, in the last month he’s hit the under in four of his starts, but with some much-needed rest, I’m expecting him to come out dialled in.

Alejandro Kirk O 0.5 Doubles @ +325 (Bet365): I’m going to be honest, this one is just for fun. Let’s lock it in and see what happens.
