MLB Picks: June 13

By Stefan Luciani

What. A. Sunday. I told you guys, making money to finish the weekend makes the Monday blues that much better. Don’t get me wrong, Mondays still suck, but they suck a little less when you carry around the pride of a clean sweep on your Sunday wagers. No thanks necessary. I like to think of it as my civic duty.

But you know what’s better than making money on a Sunday? If you guessed making money on a Monday, yeah you’re spot on. So let’s get to it. Since the firing of Joe Girardi, the Phillies have looked like a team reborn. Yes, they did just get beat down by the D-Backs on Sunday, but they still took two of three from that series. On top of that, they’re 8-1 since the skipper was relieved of his duties. Coincidence? Honestly who knows, it’s baseball. But I like what I’m seeing from them at the moment as they find themselves back at that .500 mark at 30-30.

They open up a three-game set with the Miami Marlins tonight in the city of brotherly love. I’ll be straight with you, I like the Marlins. I think they’re an underrated team that has some decent pieces that are still trying to figure out how they fit. But Philly right now, something just feels different about them. That’s why I’m all over their -1.5 runline. Am I a runline merchant? Probably, you could say that, but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it right? So quiet down please. TheScoreBet currently has their line sitting @+160 for the Phillies to cover -1.5, and I am salivating just thinking about it. I feel very much like Dr. Doofenshmirtz whilst he explains his “perfect plan” to Perry the Platypus. Yes, I did just make a Phineas and Ferb reference. Really hoping the very few of you that read these will have a little chuckle. Anyways, I digress. They are going up against a tough pitcher in Sandy Alcantara who boasts a 1.61 ERA, but this offence has been surging lately, and I think Aaron Nola is going to have a solid outing at home.

Pick: Phillies runline -1.5 @ +160 (theScoreBet) vs the Marlins

Other Notable Games

Blue Jays vs Orioles U8.5 @-110 (PointsBet)

Okay, this one is a gamble (haha, no pun intended. I’m honestly hilarious). But this game just screams under to me. Obviously the Jays have found their bats of late, that is no secret, but the Orioles on the other hand, are in the bottom 10 in almost every single offensive category you can think of. Also, Alek Manoah will be the one getting the start for Toronto. I just don’t see Baltimore producing a ton of offence tonight. The Jays could most definitely go off, but I don’t feel like a nine-run performance is in the cards. I feel like this is going to be a 5-2, 5-1, 4-0 type game with the Jays on top. Let's take that under.
