MLB Picks: June 14

Written by Cartichoke

Good Tuesday everybody, the best day for winning money on sports. We are going back to the diamond tonight, my last pick SMACKED Giants ML on Friday against Buehler and the Dodgers. So I am looking to keep the hot hand rolling tonight.

We have the Oakland A’s (21-41) taking on the Boston Red Sox (32-29).

On the Oakland side, it has not been the best year for the Moneyball team. It was probably expected from MLB fans and Oakland fans, they gave Matt Chapman to the Blue Jays in the offseason as well as traded Matt Olson to the Braves. Those two were their two best players and it was always scary playing them when they had those two. Now that they are gone I could probably name a handful of guys on this team.

For the Red Sox, at one point during the season they were 11-20. Since then they are 21-9 and looking like one of the hottest teams in the majors. They are just coming back from their West Coast road trip, where they swept the A’s in three games, beat the Angels 3 times out of four, and beat the Mariners two games to one.

They are playing great baseball, and having fun doing it and as well, enjoying some ice cream on the way.

Pitching for the A’s is Jared Koenig, he has only seen MLB action once this year. Going against the Braves. He pitched 4 innings, giving up 5 hits and 4 earned runs while striking out three. He did well in the minors to get a callup, he went 4-2 with 61 strikeouts, a 2.21 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP for the LAs Vegas Aviators.

On the mound for the Red Sox is Nick Pivetta, he is 5-5 on the season with a 3.78 ERA and a 1.14 WHIP. His second last game was actually against the A’s where he pitched seven solid innings, only giving up two hits and two walks, while striking out seven and getting the win.

So I am going to take the Boston Red Sox -1.5 tonight, they are just the much hotter team at the moment and plus…these two teams are headed in two different directions. Red Sox to the playoffs and the A’s to the lottery (yes the MLB has a lottery now).

I am also going to take the u9.5 runs in the game too, Koenig got his first MLB game jitters out of the way, I think he will do alright his second time around, with how well he pitched in AAA.

The Red Sox pitching has been one of their strong suits as of late, tossing four shutouts on their 10 game road trip. The way Nick Pivetta pitched against the A’s was outstanding. How can you go against that?

Give me the Red Sox -1.5 (-105) on Bet99 as well as the u9.5 runs (-120) on Bet99.

I’ll see you at the top.
