Pick of the Day for MLB: June 28

By Stefan Luciani

We’re slowly, somehow already, approaching the dog days of summer. But that doesn’t mean it’s time to get complacent. This can be a great opportunity to hunker down and take advantage of some opportunities that may begin presenting themselves with the fatigue and injuries that come with this time of year. So let’s dive in.

Speaking of injuries, the defending champs Atlanta Braves are riddled with them. No Acuña Jr., no Eddie Rosario, or Albies long term, and a plethora of big contributors sitting in that 60-Day IL. Now they’re going against a Phillies team who themselves have just lost Bryce Harper in the midst of an MVP caliber season. This is just how these things go. But following a really tough start to the season, the Phillies have quickly become a very competitive team, especially with the likes of Castellanos who has been seeing the ball well, and is coming off of a four-hit performance on Sunday.

Charlie Morton is on the bump for Atlanta and despite his status as certified dog, isn’t exactly having a career year for the Braves. Over his last 15 games he’s 4-3 with an ERA just south of 5. Zack Wheeler on the other hand, has been great this year and even better through June with an ERA of 1.93 over his last 4 starts.

Odds are currently sitting at +175 (Caesars) for the Phillies to cover -1.5, but act quick because it has only been going down.

Pick: Phillies -1.5 @ +175 (Caesars) vs Braves
