UFC Fight Night: Vera vs Cruz: August 12

Written by Cartichoke

What is good fight fans? We are back once again for UFC Fight Night: Vera vs Cruz in front of a live audience. Yessir San Diego, California. I love a fight night that isn't in the Apex Center. It makes the fights more exciting for us and the fighters and we tend to have more finishes too. Let’s get into it.

I am going to start all the way up at the top. Chito Vera taking on Dominick Cruz in a Bantamweight bout. Two guys fighting out of California as well, with Cruz actually fighting out of San Diego, so he is technically the home fighter tonight. Marlon Vera comes into this fight having won his last three fights and they came against some solid fighters: Rob Font, Frankie Edgar and Davey Grant. His most recent loss came to Jose Aldo, and the previous bout was a “win” against Sean O’Malley but we don’t call that a win.

For Cruz it has been somewhat of a bumpy road, losing to Garbrandt and taking that lengthy absence from fighting, only to return in a losing effort against Henry Cejudo. But he is currently on a two fight win streak with wins over Casey Kenney and Pedro Munhoz. I am going to take Marlon Vera in this fight though, the man causes DAMAGE. Just look at his opponents before and after he fights them, here is Rob Font, Davey Grant, and then this one with Frankie Edgar. Vera is hitting his prime and Cruz looks washed up.

Give me Chito Vera -220 on bet365.

My other fight that I will bet on is between Gerald Meerschaert and Bruno Silva in a Middleweight bout. GM3 is just one of those popular fighters. Put him on the prelims and he can entertain the crowd. He isn’t the fastest fighter and often he looks like he is getting mollywhopped. But then would get a third round submission for the win. He is 3-2 in his last five fights with his most recent loss coming against Jotko. For Bruno Silva he is 3-1 in his UFC career, winning his first three fights before fighting the now #1 contender in the Middleweight division Alex Pereira. I like him to rebound here especially against a Meerschaert who is on the decline. Give me the Brazilian Silva to get this win and get back in the win column.

Pick: Bruno Silva -275 on Betway

I’ll see you at the top.
