UFC on ABC 3 Betting Picks: July 15
Fight fans unite! We are back this Saturday for a special and fancy UFC on ABC 3. Yeah, this is only the third UFC on ABC so far and let me tell you…I love them. They’re on during the day which is a pleasant change. This card will also be in front of a live audience which is awesome too, that means a lot more finishes.
I am looking at two fights on this card that I want to take to the ground and just wrestle the crap out of them. The first one is between Lauren Murphy and Miesha Tate. Yes, women's MMA. This fight was supposed to be on the Main Card of UFC 276 but Murphy had to pull out due to being sick a few days before the fight. These two women will have a combined age of 73. Lauren Murphy being 38 years old and Miesha Tate at 35 years old. This fight will be something, I will say that.
Tate, who took like 4 years off of the sport came back 10 months ago to fight Marion Reneau and got a nice TKO win in her return, she then fought three months later and lost to Ketlen Viera. Murphy comes into this fight having put together 4 straight wins, then getting herself a nice title shot against Valentina Shevchenko. She didn’t win. She lost in the 4th round via ground and pound. But she didn’t even look in the same class as Shevchenko in that fight, she is one tough cookie to last that long with her, so I will give props.
But I am going to have to roll with Miesha here, honestly because she is 3 years younger. Like Lauren is 38 years old, I feel like there should be like how we compare our years to dog years there should be our years and MMA years. I feel like being a woman at age 38 is probably like being 44 in real years.
My second bet is in the Main Event. Brian Ortega taking on Yair Rodriguez.
This is a really great fight and I am excited for this one. Brian Ortega comes into this fight with one win in his last three fights. But don’t get it twisted, those two losses came to Max Holloway who is a Top 10 Pound for Pound fighter in the UFC and Alexander Volkanovski who you could say is the #1 Pound for Pound fighter in the UFC. AND he was super close to actually beating Volk in their fight, getting him in a nasty guillotine choke and I seriously don’t know how Volk got out of it. That's why he is one of the greats I guess.
For Yair Rodriguez, he lost his last fight to Max Holloway which was a very close fight in my eyes. He started off very strong but then tired out a bit as the rounds went on. His other fights were a win against Jeremy Stephens (who is in PFL now) and The Korean Zombie in which he did a crazy reverse elbow to win the fight with 0:01 left in the 5th round where he was facing defeat.
This is how I think the fight is gonna go, I think Yair will do his thing in the first couple rounds and look good, maybe throw some leg kicks. But I think Oretga will catch him with a nice shot and then go for the submission because his Jiu-Jitsu is just top notch.
I’ll see you at the top.
