UFC Picks: June 02

Written by Cartichoke

We finally have the UFC back in our lives after a two week break which actually felt more like a month. It really is something you miss on those Saturday nights when you need to take a break from MLB ruining every ticket. With no NBA Finals scheduled for Saturday, and one game on the ice, I am really looking forward to some fights.

I am going to give two picks out today because of the two weeks we were off, and I am pretty sure that I am 2-0 in my UFC bets. So let's go ahead and make it 4-0.

First fight I’ll be taking is the fifth fight on the card, Benoit Saint-Denis vs Niklas Stolze. I am going to take Benoit Saint-Denis here. I believe he is the better grappler out of the two, I believe that if this fight were to go blow-for-blow, Stolze has the weaker chin of the two. He just lost to Jared Gooden at UFC Vegas 33 via TKO in the first round.

To make that even worse, Gooden was a +180 underdog, and he is taking this fight on short notice, so I can't trust Stolze here.

This will be Saint-Denis’ second UFC fight, in his first matchup he was put against 22-7 Elizeu Zaleski. Which is a pretty tough first UFC fight. So I like him to bounce back and take care of business. Also, his nickname is God of War which is pretty cool. So give me Saint-Denis here at -159 and you can get that number at LeoVegas.

My second bet comes from the main event. Jairzinho Rozenstruik taking on Alexander Volkov.

Rozenstruik comes into this fight with a 12-3 record, while Volkov almost triples him in fights with a record of 34-10. I am going to have to go with Volkov here, Rozenstruik just cannot be trusted, he really isn't that great of a fighter, he has knockout power, but a guy like Volkov with his length can use the jab to keep the distance.

Both these guys defeated Allstair Overeem (who has one of the weakest chins in the division) via KO, but Rozenstruik did it with 4 seconds left in the 5th round, where many people believe he was about to lose that fight. Volkov finished Overeem in the second round. Volkov has sneaky power and a very sneaky good chin.

So I’m going to have to go with Alexander Volkov at -150 at bet365.

Let’s make it 4-0 in the UFC. SEE YOU AT THE TOP.
