NHL Picks: June 26

By Ryan Nadrajan

Lord Stanley makes a return to the Amalie Arena tonight for Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals between the Colorado Avalanche and the Tampa Bay Lightning. The question is will it be presented or will it have to make another trip back to Denver?

If you don’t know by now, you simply cannot count out the Tampa Bay Lightning. The group seemingly finds ways to get it done, and now at home, they have a chance to extend the series to a Game 7. What’s scary if you are a Colorado Avalanche fan is that Andrei Vasilevskiy has looked better each game as the series has gone on since Game 2. Colorado failed to score a clean goal past the netminder in Game 5. Soon-to-be UFA Valeri Nichushkin pounced on a rebound for the team’s first goal and then a shot from Cale Makar took a few deflections and bounces and made its way past Vasilevskiy for their second goal. Tampa Bay doesn’t give you much room in their defensive end as they are shot-blocking machines, but the Avalanche will need to find a way to get more pucks towards Vasilevskiy and make it dirty.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are in another elimination situation and at this point, you can say that they are comfortable being here. I think the longer this game goes on scoreless or tied the advantage is in the Lightning’s favour. Colorado will need Nathan MacKinnon to make an impact after a quiet Game 5 and a solid performance from Darcy Kuemper, who let in two questionable goals from Jan Rutta and Victor Hedman. I would imagine the Avalanche will come out firing on all cylinders, likewise to the overtime period in Game 4. If Colorado can manage to score first or get on the PP early, I believe they can lift the cup tonight. I mean you would rather win in Florida than Denver, right?

Pick: Colorado Avalanche ML -112 at Coolbet

Other bets to consider for this game:

Nathan Mackinnon Over 4.5 Shots on Goal (-151) at bet365 - I believe the Nate Dogg is going to be a force tonight, shooting at a high rate like usual. Using the new betstamp player prop comparison tool I was able to find the best odds at bet365.
